40 years of live music
El Sol opened its doors in 1979 as a concert hall and nightclub. Icon of La Movida and current reference for live music and clubbing in the center of Madrid, the space has been modernized while preserving its aesthetics and welcoming character.
With an almost daily musical program and the best sound as its hallmark, at El Sol you can enjoy international tours, the closest sets of leading Spanish bands or the consecration concert of the new names on the independent scene. With a pop-rock essence, there is no lack of urban music, folk or avant-garde bets. At dawn on weekends, the programming of La Noche de El Sol delves into the latest trends in electronic music.

The quality of its programming, the good atmosphere and professional treatment and closeness with artists, music professionals and the public, has led El Sol to receive numerous national and international awards, and to be the first concert hall distinguished with a Memory Plaque of the city of Madrid.
The iconic space of El Sol, with its mythical spiral staircase, red velvet curtains, semicircular stage, boxes and booths, has been immortalized in hundreds of reports, photo sessions, video clips, series and films throughout its more than 40 years of existence. A timeless and open atmosphere, capable of bringing together several generations in the same event and of continuing to renew its public and welcoming both classic names of the venue, as well as parties of the new groups that shake up the Madrid nightlife.
After a season of forced closure -due to the Covid19 pandemic-, El Sol begins the reactivation process during the month of April 2021, with all the necessary sanitary and hygiene measures, and with an infinite desire to welcome its public again and to redouble the commitment to leisure and safe culture.
